The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan Sets 2027 Premiere With First Trailer Reveal

A fresh trailer and promotional image have confirmed that The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan will debut as an anime series in 2027, bringing Izushiro and Ruria Miyuki’s long‑running fantasy saga to the screen. The announcement marks the first major look at the adaptation, which has been highly anticipated by fans of the light novel and manga.

A Production Team Ready for High‑Power Magic

The series is animated by HOTLINE, with Yūsuke Suzuki directing after his work on This Monster Wants to Eat Me and Duel Masters Win.
The script is written by Gigaemon Ichikawa, known for A Galaxy Next Door, while character designs come from Yūki Kitajima, whose credits include The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You and key animation on One Piece.

A Prodigy With a Secret Identity

The cast so far includes:

  • Yūto Uemura as Alus Reigin

The light novel began in 2015 and is still going strong, with its 27th volume set for release in December 2025. A manga adaptation by Yoneshiro launched in 2020, expanding the world even further.

A Legend Who Just Wants to Retire

The story follows Alus Reigin, humanity’s strongest Master Magician and a prodigy who has reclaimed more territory from Demons than anyone alive. At just sixteen, he requests retirement from military service, hoping for a quiet life.
But fate has other plans. Instead of stepping away from battle, Alus is reassigned to a prestigious magical institute, where he must hide his identity while training two gifted young magicians. All the while, he continues a secret mission to eliminate Demons behind the scenes.

A 2027 Premiere With Big Expectations

With its blend of high‑stakes magic, academy intrigue and a protagonist trying to escape the spotlight, The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan is poised to become one of 2027’s standout fantasy releases.
