Vivarium Invites Players Into an Endless Summer With a Mystery Beneath the Sunshine

Serenity Forge, Studio Meadowflower, Crunchyroll and Shochiku Games have confirmed that Vivarium will launch in 2027 for Xbox Series and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store.
Originally announced in 2023, the game resurfaced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 with a warm, nostalgic glow and a promise of something far stranger beneath the surface.

Welcome to an Endless Summer

Vivarium opens with a golden late‑afternoon haze.
Warm air. Chirping crickets. Sunlight spilling across your room.
And beyond your window, a tiny world quietly waits.

You play as Jenny, an energetic 11‑year‑old girl living inside a miniature terrarium world.
But this is not just her story.
Beneath the calm routines of small‑town life lies another existence entirely, buried deep under the summer days.

A Perfect World With Hidden Cracks

Vivarium invites players to explore a nostalgic community filled with secrets.
The narrative unfolds non‑linearly, shaped by your choices as you uncover the truth behind this seemingly perfect world.

You will meet a cast of unforgettable neighbors, including:

  • A reclusive woman transforming into something new
  • A shopkeeper who recommends a new album every day
  • A cheerful postman who drinks like a fish and is literally a fish
  • A bird‑watching retiree who quietly monitors the town
  • A wandering fortune teller who knows far too much

Every character carries a branching story that shifts with your decisions.

Live Each Day Like a Dream

Vivarium syncs its in‑game days with the player’s real‑world calendar, offering new discoveries as time naturally passes.
Main events push the story forward, while evenings provide peaceful activities such as:

  • Cooking and gardening
  • Collecting stickers, vinyl records and classic novels
  • Crafting items and decorating your cozy home
  • Repairing equipment and preparing for the next day

It is a life‑sim wrapped in mystery, where every night feels like a quiet dream.

A Tiny World With Big Questions

The terrarium may be small, but its secrets run deep.
As Jenny explores further, the question grows louder:
Can this little world truly contain her?

Vivarium blends slice‑of‑life warmth with surreal mystery, creating a gentle yet unsettling adventure about identity, memory and the worlds we build around ourselves.
