SEGA used Summer Game Fest 2026 to kick off Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary with a wave of announcements for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and a brand new licensed project. The blue blur’s celebration is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s busiest years, packed with crossovers, new content and a fresh spin on cooperative chaos.
TMNT Joins the Race This July
One of the biggest reveals was the first gameplay footage of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem Expansion, arriving in July 2026. The pack adds Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo as playable racers, along with themed vehicles, tracks and music inspired by the Turtles’ neon soaked universe. It is one of the most ambitious collaborations CrossWorlds has attempted so far.
Avatar Arrives in October
SEGA also announced the Avatar Pack, coming in October 2026. This DLC brings Aang and Katara from Avatar The Last Airbender into the game, complete with new tracks, themed vehicles, musical additions and emotes. It continues CrossWorlds’ trend of blending iconic animated worlds with Sonic’s high speed racing style.
Year Two Roadmap Teases Godzilla and Evangelion
Looking ahead, SEGA confirmed part of its second year of support for CrossWorlds. Future collaborations include themed packs based on Godzilla and Evangelion, two massive pop culture giants. The second Season Pass will include six new DLCs, with more details set to drop throughout 2026.
Sonic Pico Park Brings Cooperative Chaos
SEGA also revealed Sonic Pico Park, the newest licensed project in the franchise. Developed by TECOPARK and published by PICO PARK in Japan, the game blends puzzle platforming with Sonic’s classic cast. Inspired by the cooperative hit PICO PARK, this version focuses on teamwork, frantic challenges and the kind of delightful chaos that only multiplayer puzzle games can deliver.
Launch Window Set for 2026
While SEGA has not announced a specific release date, Sonic Pico Park is confirmed for a 2026 launch, with more updates planned for the coming months.
