Author Rick Riordan is expanding his television empire on Disney+ with a live-action series adaptation of The Kane Chronicles. Produced by 20th Television alongside The Gotham Group, the potential series brings Riordan's bestselling Egyptian mythology trilogy to life. Veteran writer, director, and producer Angela Robinson (Wednesday, True Blood, The L Word) is co-creating, writing, and executive producing the project alongside Riordan.
The announcement comes after a feature film trilogy adaptation at Netflix hit a dead end, with rights reverting back to Riordan in 2024.

The road to bringing The Kane Chronicles to screens has been a long process for fans.
- The Netflix Era: Netflix initially acquired feature film rights to the trilogy in 2020, planning an expansive cinematic franchise. However, after spending several years in script development, the project went into turnaround and Netflix allowed its option to expire in early 2024.
- The Disney Shift: Once rights reverted to Rick and Rebecca Riordan, 20th Television acquired the property to re-develop it as a serialized television show.
