Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure Bring 4K Upgrades and 120 FPS to PS5 and Switch 2 This September

NIS America and Nihon Falcom have announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 10, 2026.
These upgraded versions introduce technical improvements designed to take advantage of newer hardware, including up to 4K resolution, up to 120 FPS, and even mouse support on Switch 2.

Trails from Zero

According to NIS America, Trails from Zero invites players back to Crossbell, a thriving city‑state caught between the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard.
After three years away, Lloyd Bannings returns to join the Crossbell Police Department, only to be assigned to the newly formed Special Support Section.
There he meets:

  • Elie MacDowell, granddaughter of the mayor
  • Randy Orlando, a flirtatious ex‑soldier
  • Tio Plato, a young tech prodigy

Together, they take on odd jobs, uncover corruption and slowly unravel the truth behind Crossbell’s political tensions.

Trails to Azure

The sequel, Trails to Azure, picks up a few months later.
The Special Support Section has earned newfound respect, but peace is short‑lived.
New factions with hidden agendas emerge, and Crossbell once again becomes the center of a growing conflict between Erebonia and Calvard.

Lloyd and his allies must confront rising threats that endanger both their city and their unity as a team.
Unbeknownst to them, Crossbell is on the brink of a decisive turning point that will shape its future.

A Modern Upgrade for Two Fan‑Favorite Arcs

With sharper visuals, smoother performance and platform‑specific enhancements, these new versions aim to deliver the definitive way to experience the Crossbell saga.
For longtime fans, it is a chance to revisit two of Falcom’s most beloved stories. For newcomers, it is the perfect entry point into one of the most celebrated RPG universes.
