Screenbound Splits Reality in Style This September

Crescent Moon Games and Digital Pajamas have confirmed that Screenbound will launch on September 10, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game’s premise is as strange as it is intriguing. It all begins with a mysterious handheld console found in your mother’s garage.

When You Turn It On, Reality Breaks

According to the Steam page, the device known as the Qboy doesn’t just play games. It splits reality in two, creating a world where a retro 2D platformer and the surrounding 3D environment coexist at the same time. Players control both versions of the protagonist simultaneously, navigating puzzles and enemies across two planes of existence.

A 3D World and a 2D Screen Working Together

Screenbound blends stylized 3D environments with pixel art inspired by classic handheld games. Every challenge requires reading clues from both realities, creating what the developers call “5D gameplay”.
You’ll jump, slide and solve puzzles in the 2D world while reacting to threats and obstacles in the 3D space around you. The two layers constantly interact, but they don’t always follow the same rules.

A Quantum Adventure With Heart

The story follows the player character and their loyal dog as they explore a strange world shaped by memories, secrets and the Qboy’s unpredictable power. Some records make you smile. Others hit with emotional weight. The game positions itself as a quantum experiment where you are the variable, and every shift between worlds reveals more of the mystery.
