Outward 2 Opens Its Gates With a Massive Open Beta and a Call to Explore Aurai

Nine Dots Studio took the stage at the PC Gaming Show 2026 to announce that Outward 2 has officially shifted from a Closed Beta to an Open Beta, now available on PC via Steam.
This marks the first major step toward the game’s Early Access launch on July 7, 2026 across Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.

An RPG Built for Ordinary Adventurers

Outward 2 continues the series’ signature philosophy: you are not a chosen hero.
You are an ordinary adventurer in the unforgiving world of Aurai, where success comes from:

  • Careful planning
  • Observation
  • Critical thinking
  • Constant preparation

This grounded approach helped the first Outward reach more than 3 million players, and the sequel aims to refine that identity without losing its soul.

A Sequel Shaped by Community Feedback

Nine Dots Studio has expanded nearly every part of the original formula. Expect improvements to:

  • Combat flow
  • Character creation and progression
  • Narrative structure
  • World dynamism and environmental detail

The team promises a richer, more vibrant Aurai while maintaining the challenge that defines the series.

A Potato Trailer and an Invitation to Explore

After revealing the Early Access date with a humorous potato‑themed trailer, Nine Dots now invites all adventurers to dive into the Open Beta.
The latest gameplay footage highlights the dangers of Aurai and reminds players that some journeys are better with a friend.

The #ExploreAurai Community Contest

To celebrate the Beta, the studio launched the #ExploreAurai contest.
Until June 25, 2026, players can win two Early Access keys by sharing their best or worst Beta moments.

How to participate:

  • Follow Nine Dots Studio on your chosen platform
  • Post your best screenshot or video from the Beta with #ExploreAurai
  • Tag Nine Dots Studio
  • Tag a friend you would bring on your adventure

The team is looking for memorable discoveries, epic victories, hilarious mistakes and everything in between.

Co‑op Adventures Return

Outward 2 supports two‑player co‑op, both split‑screen and online.
Whether you want to brave Aurai alone or with a partner, the world is built to challenge and reward teamwork.

Keys for contest winners will be distributed three days before Early Access begins.

Outward 2 is shaping up to be a deeper, more refined evolution of the cult‑favorite RPG, inviting players old and new to test their mettle in a world where preparation is everything.
