Komi Games used the Future Games Show Live From LA 2026 to unveil Gemini X, a 2.5D Metroidvania heavily inspired by CAPCOM’s Megaman X series.
The game is coming to PC via Steam, with its release date still under wraps, but its first trailer already shows a stylish blend of classic run and gun action and modern exploration design.
A Hijacked Colony and a Fight for Humanity
Gemini X takes place aboard ZCN 02, a human space colony seized by a rebellious faction known as the Heretechs.
Players forge their own path through interconnected zones, tackle bosses in any order and shape the fate of the characters they meet.
The world shifts based on your choices, discoveries and how far you are willing to go to save humanity.
Wrapped in vibrant stylized visuals and backed by a synth and heavy rock soundtrack inspired by the PlayStation Original era, the game aims to feel nostalgic without being stuck in the past.
Face the Heretechs and Steal Their Powers
The Heretechs are robotic freedom fighters who have taken the colony hostage.
As you confront them, you can acquire their unique abilities, expanding your combat and traversal options.
Players can even alter boss battles by uncovering secret routes or making specific choices, forcing Heretechs into full power, all out encounters.
Sabotage, Infiltrate and Disrupt
Your mission is not just to fight.
You infiltrate Gemini Station, sabotage enemy plans and sow discord among the Heretechs.
Whether you eliminate them or simply drive them into chaos, your actions reshape the colony’s future.
Rook’s Rise From Rookie to Hero
You play as Rook, a newly graduated CASTLE security agent ambushed and left for dead during the Heretech attack.
Thrown into the conflict by chance, Rook chooses to fight back, reclaim the colony and uncover the truth behind the rebellion.
