Toby Fox announced during the June 9 Nintendo Direct that DELTARUNE Chapter 5 will launch on June 24, 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
It marks the next major step in the long‑running development of the beloved RPG, and Fox is already teasing how this chapter fits into the story’s emotional rhythm.
A Brighter Chapter Before the Storm
In his latest newsletter, Fox offered a glimpse into the tone of Chapter 5.
He shared a short message with fans, reflecting on the shift from the ominous ending of Chapter 4 to something more uplifting:
“In Chapter 4 we saw dark clouds on the horizon…
So, for now, let's not look at them. Let's turn around and watch the sun before it disappears completely.”
Fox says DELTARUNE Chapter 5 serves as a lighter, more hopeful adventure before the narrative dives into darker territory.
It is meant to be a moment of warmth and fun before the emotional weight of what comes next.
Chapter 6 Development Moving Quickly
Fox also shared a detailed progress update on Chapter 6, noting that development is going more smoothly than previous chapters:
- Narrative scenes and NPC interactions are progressing well
- All major exploration systems are complete, including climbing and puzzle mechanics
- Normal enemies and their projectile patterns are nearly finished
- The team is currently working on projectile patterns for the chapter’s final battle
Fox says Chapter 6 has been simpler to develop, allowing the team to move faster than usual.
Chapter 7 Could Begin Production This Year
In a surprising update, Fox revealed that Chapter 7 may enter production before the end of 2026.
He acknowledges the ambition but insists it is “not unrealistic,” highlighting how smoothly the final chapters are coming together.
